Men’s Health

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) most commonly affects men over the age of 40, but is also prevalent in younger men. Men who suffer from other diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or an enlarged prostate might be at an increased risk of ED. There are many treatments of ED that address the root cause of the dysfunction, but some of the commercially available medications may be ineffective for some patients. At C2 Medical Solutions, we offer a variety of self-injectable ED medications that can include a combination of ingredients proven to be effective treatments of ED. The injectable ED ingredients include papaverine, phentolamine, prostaglandin E1, and atropine sulfate.

  • Papaverine works as a smooth muscle relaxer and a non-specific vasodilator of the arterioles and capillaries. Side effects of this ingredient include priapism and corporal fibrosis.
  • Phentolamine increases sympathetic outflow and the release of norepinephrine (NE). In combination with papaverine, phentolamine’s efficacy is increase and can be successfully used to treat ED.
  • Prostaglandin E1 also works to relax smooth muscles and has been proven to be efficacious in treating ED.
  • Atropine competitively binds to muscarinic receptors, which are a type of receptor that is involved in the contraction and relaxation of smooth muscle and epithelial tissue. When atropine is injected locally into the penis, these muscarinic receptors are inhibited, effectively relaxing the vessels in the penis and helps in achieving an erection.
